New AIIMS will setup in Mangalagiri AP
Andhra Pradesh manage to get new AIIMS in Mangalagiri. 193 acres of land sanctioned to setup new AIIMS. State health minister Kamineni Srinivas stated that they have gotten approval from the Center government for the proposed site for All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at Mangalagiri.
A two-member committee has been formed which will submit a detailed project report to the Center.
The Centre’s guidelines stipulate that a minimum of 200 acres of land is required for setting up an AIIMS, however the site at Mangalagiri was approved even though it is only 193 acres. The AIIMS will come up on the TB sanatorium land with Rs 1,500 crore allocated for construction of the hospital. The Centre has allocated Rs 125 crore for initial works and the state government is also pushing for a cancer hospital at Chinakakani.
