AIIMS Admission Guidelines

All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) was established by an Act of Parliament of 1956, as an
autonomous institution of national importance and its objectives and functions were defined. By virtue of this Act, the institute awards its own medical degrees, diplomas and other academic distinctions. The degrees and diplomas awarded by the institute under the All India institute of Medical Sciences Act are recognized medical qualifications for the purpose of the Indian Medical Council Act, are deemed to be included in the first schedule of that act entitling the holders to the same privileges as those attached to the equivalent awards from other universities of India.

The Institute is a residential university in which the faculty members, staff and the students live on campus. There are 8 hostels for undergraduate students (6 for boys and 2 for girls) with a capacity to accommodate 850 students. There are separate hostels for the postgraduate students. The hospital has 1560 beds including the beds in Paying wards.

AIMS And OBJECTIVES

The prime concern of the Institute is to develop patterns of teaching in undergraduate and postgraduate (PG) medical education in all the branches so as to demonstrate a high standard of medical education to all medical colleges and allied institutions in India. The other important objectives of the Institute are to bring together in one place educational facilities of the highest order for the training of personnel in all the important branches of health activities and to attain self-sufficiency in postgraduate medical education. The educational principles and practices being adopted here are those which are the best suited to the needs of the country. Adaptation of education to meet the problems of community health is a major preoccupation. To this effect the Institute has been trying to initiate a model educational program which is undertaken in the Ballabgarh Community Development Block in collaboration with the Haryana State Government. The Institute has also been able been able to initiate model educational programme in Community Medicine at the urban field practice area in Malviya Nagar, New Delhi. Emphasis is laid on the active learning process and on the cultivation of scholarly habits and scientific methods.

The first batch of undergraduate medical students was admitted to the Institute in the year 1956 and since then the Institute has been admitting 50 (fifty) students every year to the M.B.B.S. Course.

The number of students to this course is kept relatively small to ensure an adequate teacher student ratio. The undergraduate curriculum is constantly the subject for discussion at the faculty and Staff Council levels and required changes in the curriculum are brought about, off and on in order to evolve a pattern which is the most suitable for the Indian needs and conditions.

The undergraduate medical students get sufficient impetus for higher studies as the institute provides facilities for postgraduate degrees in almost all the branches of medical sciences. At present, the Institute is awarding post-graduate degrees in about 45 different specia

ADMISSION

Each year 50 seats are available for admission to the graduate medical course, leading to the award of the degree of M.B.B.S. of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). Out of these, 7 (seven) seats are reserved for the Scheduled Castes, 4 (four) seats are reserved for the Scheduled Tribes and 5 (five) seats are reserved for the Foreign Nationals nominated by the Government of India. The remaining 34(thirty four) seats are filled by the general candidates on the basis of a competitive examination. If requisite number of suitable candidates are not available to fill the seats reserved for the Scheduled Castes, the same are filled out of the candidates belonging to the Scheduled Tribes and vice versa. In case suitable candidates are not available from the above two reserved categories, the vacant seats are filled by the candidates from the general category.

ELIGIBILITY

For Indian nationals:
An applicant is eligible for admission to the competitive Entrance Examination of the Institute if the following criteria are met with:-
Nationality: He/She is an Indian citizen

Age:
He/She has attained or will attain the age of seventeen (17) years as
on the 31st of December of the year of admission. Candidates attaining seventeen years on 1st January 2001 or later will not be eligible to appear at the competitive entrance examination.
Essential

Qualification:

He/She should have passed the12th Class under the 10+2 Scheme /Senior SchoolCertificate Examination or an equivalent examination of a recognized Board of any Indian State with ENGLISH and Medical Group of subjects, namely PHYSICS, CHEMISTRY (Organic and Inorganic) and BIOLOGY (Botany and Zoology) :
OR
The Intermediate Science (I.Sc.) or an equivalent examination of a recognized Indian university or a recognized Board of Education of any Indian State with ENGLISH and the Medical Group of Subjects, namely PHYSICS, CHEMISTRY (Organic and Inorganic) and BIOLOGY (Botany and Zoology):
OR
Pre-Medical or Pre-Professional examination of the integrate M.B.B.S. course with ENGLISH, PHYSICS, CHEMISTRY (Organic and Inorganic) and BIOLOGY (Botany and Zoology); after having passed either the higher Secondary School Examination o Pre-University Examination, or an equivalent Examination;
OR
The 1st year examination of the 3-year B.Sc degree course with ENGLISH, PHYSICS, CHEMISTRY (Organic and Zoology) after passing the Higher Secondary or Pre-University Examination.
OR
Any other examination with the required subjects which in scope and
standard(including its courses and syllabus) is considered by the institute to be equivalent to Pre-medical/Intermediate Science examination of an Indian University.
Minimum

Aggregate :

He/She should have obtained a minimum of SIXTY PERCENT (60%) marks in aggregate in the 4 compulsory subjects of ENGLISH, PHYSICS, CHEMISTRY (Organic and Inorganic) and BIOLOGY (Botany and Zoology).

For Graduate Application:

Minimum Aggregate percentage marks and other conditions:
If an application has passed the B.Sc. or B.V.Sc. or B.Sc. (Nursing) final examination by securing not less than fifty five percent(55%) of the total marks in aggregate in any of these examinations, he/she shall be eligible for appearing in the Competitive Entrance Examination provided in the 12th class examination under 10+2 scheme/ Intermediate Science/Pre-Medical or Pre-Professional /B.Sc. 1st year examination of three years course or an equivalent examination, he/she had studied the subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry (Organic and Inorganic) and Biology (Botany and Zoology), even if he/she has secured less than 60% marks in the subjects specified above.
For Scheduled Caste/Tribe Candidates:

A candidate who has obtained a minimum of fifty percent (50%) of marks in aggregate in the subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry (Organic and Inorganic) and Biology (Botany and Zoology) in his/her 12th class examination under 10+2 Scheme/Intermediate Science/ Pre-Medical / Pre-Professional/B.Sc 1st year or an equivalent examination will be eligible to appear in the Competitive Entrance Examination.

A candidate belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC) / Scheduled Tribe (ST) community who has passed the B.Sc or B.V.Sc. or B.Sc (Nursing) final examination by securing not less than fifty percent (50%) of the total marks in aggregate in any of these examination, shall be eligible for appearing in the Competitive Entrance Examination,provided in the 12th class under 10+2 scheme/Intermediate Science or Pre-Medical or Pre-Professional or B.Sc. 1st year or an equivalent examination, he/she has studied the subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry (Organic and Inorganic) and Biology (Botany and Zoology).

For Foreign Candidates:

Foreign candidates nominated by the Government of India are required to have obtained a minimum of FIFTY PERCENT (50%) marks in aggregate in the subjects of ENGLISH, PHYSICS, CHEMISTRY (Organic and Inorganic) and BIOLOGY (Botany and Zoology) in their Pre-Medical/Intermediate Science or an equivalent examination to be eligible for admission to the M.B.B.S. Course.

CATEGORIES OF FOREIGN CANDIDATES ENTITLED TO CENTRAL GOVERNMENT RESERVED SEATS FOR ADMISSION TO MBBS COURSE AT A.I.I.M.S AND THE AUTHORITIES CONCERNED

1. Self Financing foreign candidate

2. Foreign Candidate under General
Cultural Scholarship Scheme Indian Council for Cultural Relations, Azad Bhavan, Indraprastha Estate, New Delhi- 110002.

The All India Institute of Medical Sciences and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare neither entertain requests for supply of application forms for admission nor receive applications’ directly for nomination of foreign students.

Other Important information :

1. A candidate who has failed in some subject(s) at the 12th class examination under
10+2 scheme/Intermediate Science/Pre-Medical/Pre-Professional/B.Sc.1st year or its equivalent examination at first attempt and has appeared and passed in the aforesaid subject(s) at the second or subsequent attempt(s), the minimum number of marks required to pass in the aforesaid subject(s) shall be taken into consideration for the purpose of calculated the aggregate, and the total percentage of marks. This aggregate, therefore, will be calculated by taking into account the marks secured in the subjects passed at the first attempt by adding these to the minimum marks required to pass in the subject(s) in which the candidate has qualified in the second or the subsequent attempt(s).

2. In case of those candidates who pass the qualifying examination without appearing in any one or more of the essential subject(s) viz., Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English, and if appeared in a subsequent examination, the marks actually secured by them in the subject(s) at the subsequent examination, will be considered for calculating the aggregate and percentage of marks in the qualifying examination.

3.The 1st year examination of a 3 years B.Sc. degree course mentioned under eligibility criteria, must have been held either by an Indian University or by the college in which the student has been studying, in which case he/she shall have to produce a certificate from the Principal of the College.

4. If the institute has to consider an examination of an Indian university or of a foreign
university to be equivalent to the 12th class under 10+2 scheme/Intermediate science/ Pre-Medical/Pre-Professional examination, the candidates shall have to produce a certificate from the concerned Indian University/Association of the Indian Universities to the effect that the examination passed by him/her is considered by them to be equivalent to the 12th class under 10+2 scheme/Intermediate.

5. All those candidates who have appeared or are appearing at the qualifying examination
with English, Physics, Chemistry (Organic and Inorganic) and Biology (Botany and Zoology) and expect to pass the examination with required percentage are also eligible to apply and appear in the Competitive Entrance Examination. However, their performance at the Competitive Entrance Examination will be considered only if they provide documentary evidence of having passed the qualifying examination with the required subjects and percentage of marks latest by the 7th of July of the year of admission. Admit Cards to such candidates will only be issued, if applications, complete in every respect, (except the certificate of having passed the qualifying examination with the required subjects and percentage of marks) are received on or before the last date for receipt of applications viz. 21st February,2015

COMPETITIVE ENTRANCE EXAMINATION

All the candidates who are found eligible under the criteria of eligibility, will be required to appear at the Competitive Entrance Examination, which will be conducted by the Institute on Thursday, the 1s June, 2015. The Venue and time of the examination will be communicated to the candidates in the Admit Card to be issued between 20th April, 2015 to 10th May, 2015. In case a candidate does not receive his/her Admit Card by 20th May,2015 he/she may please contact/write to the Examination Section of the AIIMS, New Delhi-110029 alongwith a photograph duly attested by a Gazetted Officer on the front side. No candidate shall be admitted to the examination unless he/she holds an “Admit Card” issued by the Institute.

The examination will be held at nine cities listed below provided there are sufficient number of candidates for each centre. Candidates should, therefore, give their choice of centre in the application form. Candidate must note that the centre of examination once opted will not be changed and any request for such a change will not be entertained. Therefore, the candidate should indicate his/her choice of with due care and thought. In case of any discrepancy in the exercise of centre, the choice of centres as indicated in words in the Computer Registration Sheet shall be considered as final for all purposes.

The competitive entrance Examination will be of 3 1/2 hours duration and will have one paper consisting of 200 objective type (multiple choice and reason-assertion type) questions, from Physics, Chemistry, Biology and General and General Knowledge. The general standard of the Competitive Entrance Examination will be that of 12th class under the 10+2 Scheme/Pre-Medical/Intermediate science or an equi No syllabus for the examination has been prescribed by the Institute.valiant examination of an Indian University.

Language of Question Paper
Question Paper will be provided either in English or Hindi to the candidate according to their choice. A candidate must write in the space provided in the application form whether he/she prefers who have the question paper in English or Hindi. this choice cannot be changed later at any stage.

PROCEDURE TO APPLY

1. Foreign nationals who wish to be considered for admission to the M.B.B.S. Course against the five reserved seats for foreign students need not fill this application but should apply to the Government of India through their diplomatic channels and not to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences. The nominations are made by the Government of India. Candidates are, therefore, advised to correspond with India. Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, NewDelhi, and not with this Institute (see page 5-6).

2. A candidate seeking admission to the entrance Examination is required to send his/her application on the prescribed form, available with the prospectus.

3. The candidate shall fill in the application form in his/her own handwriting. The entries in computer registration sheet should be clearly typed/hand written in block letters. There should be no over typing/over writing in the computer registration sheet.

4. Rs.400/ & Rs. 300/- as the cost of the Application form and fee for examination for General & SC/ST Candidates will be collected at the time of sale of the prospectus. This fee is non-refundable and no correspondence on this regard will be entertained.

5. The candidate is required to go through the prospectus carefully and acquaint himself/herself with all requirements with regard to filling in of the application form.

6. Candidates are directed to check the number printed on the first page of the Prospectus and ensure that it is the same on all enclosures viz. application form, computer registration sheet, attendance sheet, admit card and acknowledgment card. In case any discrepancy is noted in these or in the date and time of the entrance examination mentioned in the prospectus,
admit card etc., it should immediately be brought to the notice of the Examination Section of AIIMS. Complaints received after the examination is held will not be entertained. HOWEVER, REGISTRATION NUMBER ON THE COMPUTER REGISTRATION SHEET WILL BE CONSIDERED AS FINAL FOR ALL CORRESPONDENCE PURPOSES. Candidate must note down the number of computer registration sheet as reference for future correspondence.

7. Application form complete in all respects should be sent to ASSISTANT CONTROLLER OF EXAMINATIONS, EXAMINATION SECTION, ALL INDIA INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL SCIENCES, ANSARI NAGAR, NEW DELHI-110029 by Registered A/D or Speed Post or delivered by hand at the
Reception Counter of Examination Section, AIIMS.

8. The envelope should be superscribed “APPLICATION FORM FOR ENTRANCE EXAMINATION FOR ADMISSION TO M.B.B.S. COURSE”.

9. It will be the responsibility of the candidate to ensure that the correct address in the acknowledgment card and in the admit card is filled. the Institute shall not beheld responsible for any loss in transit or for incorrect address given by the applicant on the admit card which will be posted in the window type envelope provided with the application form.

10. Duly filled in Application form should reach the Examination Section on or before 5.00 P.M. on February, 2015. No application received thereafter shall be entertained on any ground whatsoever. The Institute does not take any responsibility for delay in receipt or loss of applications in postal transit.
After the last date is over, application(s) sent through couriers or by any other means will not be accepted, irrespective of the date of booking. Therefore candidates are advised to submit their applications well in time, instead of waiting for the prescribed last date.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR FILLING IN THE APPLICATION FORM

All particulars in the application form must be written carefully and legibly. Applications, which are incomplete in required particulars or enclosures will not be considered.

The application form duly filled in should be accompanied by the following documents:
(i) Three (3) recent passport size photographs of the candidate, as per instructions on the last page
of this prospectus. One copy each should be pasted in the space provided in the Application form, Admit Card and Attendance Sheet.
(ii) A certified true copy/photocopy of the Matriculation/Higher Secondary Certificate issued by the University/ Board Showing the date of birth of the candidate. ( No other evidence of the candidate’s date of birth shall be accepted).

In case such a certificate has not been received from the University/Board, then a certificate form the Principle/Head of the College last attended should submitted. But in such a case, in the event of his/her selection for admission, the candidate has to furnish a true copy/photocopy of Matriculation/Higher Secondary Certificate showing the date of birth,issued by the University/ Board before his/her admission.

(iii) A certified true copy/photocopy of the certificate from the University/Board or from Principal /Head of the College from which the candidate passed his/her 12th class examination under the 10+2 system/premedical or Intermediate Science Examination or an equivalent examination, of having passed the examination with English and medical Group of Subjects namely; Physics, Chemistry (Organic and Inorganic) and Biology (Botany and Zoology) alongwith a certified true copy/photocopy of mark-sheet. the year of passing such an examination must be indicated.

In case a candidate is appearing or has appeared in the 12th class Examination under 10+2 Scheme/Pre-Medical or Intermediate Science Examination or an equivalent examination with English and Medical group of subjects namely; Physics, Chemistry (Organic and Inorganic) and Biology (Botany and Zoology), he/she should submit a certificate to this effect from the Principal/Head of the college, but he/she shall have to provide documentary evidence of his/her
having passed the qualifying examination with the required subjects and attested true copy/ photocopy of the mark-sheet showing the percentage of marks obtained by him/her by 7th July of the year of admission at the latest stating

(iv) A certified true copy/photocopy of the certificate in respect of good conduct from the Principal /Head of the College/ Institute last attended.

(v) In respect of candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribe community, a certified true copy/photocopy of a certificate from any one of the following authorities stating that the candidate belongs to a

NOTE :- The term “Ordinarily resides” used here will have the same meaning as in Section 20 of the Representation of the People Act, 1950.

IMPORTANT POINTS TO NOTE

1. In case, any candidate is found to have furnished false information or certificate etc. or is found to have withheld or concealed some information in his/she application form,he/she shall be debarred from admission to this course.
2.In case any form/card/document required to be submitted along with the application form, is not reveived with application form, the application will be summarily rejected.

3. Candidates must note that they should not submit original certificates. The Institute does not take any responsibility for return of the original certificates.
4. No recommendation except the above documents will be taken into consideration. Any attempt on the part of a candidate to influence directly or indirectly, will be treated as a disqualification.
5. The centre indicated for the entrance examination by a candidate is only his/her option. Actual centre shall be allotted by the AIIMS and it shall be final. No correspondence inthis regard shall be entertained. The centre once opted shall not be changed.

6. Incomplete application forms will not be accepted.

7. Any certificate submitted separately on a later stage should clearly be referred to the “Application Form No ……………. ……………. for the M.B.B.S. Entrance Examination”.

8. Any dispute in regard to any matter referred to herein shall be subject to the jurisdiction of Delhi Courts alone.
9. Admission of the candidates to the entrance examination is provisional subject to their being found otherwise eligible for admission to the course concerned.

10. No candidate shall be allowed to carry any textual materiel, printed or written, bits of papers or any other material except the Admit Card (without envelope) inside the hall. If a candidate is found to be copying/ conversing with other candidates/to have in his/her possession papers, notes or books with some malafide intention and if those papers etc. are relevant to the questions asked in the Examination, the candidate shall be disqualified from taking that Examination and the next one or two such Examinations according to the nature of offence.

11. The candidates shall maintain silence in the Examination Hall and attend to their papers only. Any disturbance in the examination hall shall be deemed as misbehavior and the candidate shall forfeit the right to continue to write in the examination hall. The decision of the Centre Superintendent shall be final and conclusive.

12. No candidate shall be allowed t leave the examination hall before the end of hours.

13. The candidates as well as their parents at the time of admission of the students to the Institute will be required to furnish an undertaking in the form of an affidavit that the candidates will not indulge in any form of ragging and if they are found involved in ragging the freshers, the Institute may take an appropriate action against the erring students.

1. Name : Write your name in CAPITAL LETTERS as given in the records of Secondary Education Board/University.
While filling up Computer Registration Sheet, if the columns provided for writing full name, are found insufficient to accommodate the full name, abbreviate your MIDDLE name(s) and write your first and last name in full.

The last date for sale of Prospectus by post and at State Bank of India Branches (except Ansari Nagar, New Delhi Branch) in the Country is February, 2015. The sale at SBI Ansari Nagar, New Delhi & also at the A.I.I.M.S. counter will remain open till February, 2015.

The last date of receipt of applications is 5.00 p.m. on February, 2015. Applications received later than February, 2015 will not be considered.

PROCEDURE OF SELECTION

Out of those candidates who applied for and appeared in the Competitive Entrance Examination and have also submitted documentary evidence of having passed the qualifying examination with the required subjects along with an attested true copy/photocopy of the mark-sheet showing the required percentage of the total marks in aggregate on or before the July, 2015 at the latest, a merit list will be drawn according to the following procedure.

Based on the result of the Competitive Entrance Examination, separate merit lists will be prepared for :

(a) General category candidates;
(b) Scheduled Castes candidates; and
(c) Scheduled tribe candidates

Thirty four (34) candidates from the merit list of General category, seven(7) candidates from the merit list of Scheduled Castes category and four (4) candidates from the merit list of Scheduled Tribe category will be admitted.

In case seven (7) candidates from the Scheduled Castes or four(4) candidates from the Scheduled Tribe categories are not available, then eleven (11) candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste and/or Scheduled Tribe taken together will be selected for reserved seats. In case,11 candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste and /or Scheduled Tribe are not available, then the number of candidates selected on the basis of merit for general seats shall be correspondingly in creased so that the total number of candidates selected for the M.B.B.S. course is 45. The remaining candidates will be kept on the waiting list in order of merit.

For each category on the merit list, in case of two or more candidate obtaining equal marks in the competitive entrance examination, the inter-se merit of such candidates in each category shall be determined in order of preference as under :-

(a) Candidates obtaining higher marks in Biology (Botany & Zoology) in the entrance examination.
(b) Candidates obtaining higher marks in Chemistry in the entrance examination.
(c) Candidates obtaining higher marks in Physics in the entrance examination.
(d) Candidates older in age to be preferred.

DECLARATION OF RESULTS

1. The list of the candidates, who qualify for admission to the MBBS course at the AIIMS, would be declared around mid July,2015. The roll numbers of the candidates who qualify for admission to the AIIMS will be published in important Indian Newspapers and intimation to that effect will also be sent to the candidates by the Academic Section of the Institute under, “Registered Post”. The Institute shall not be responsible for the non-receipt of information by the candidates or any error or omission in the Roll Numbers/Names published in various Newspapers.

2 After declaration of the result of the entrance examination, the marks scored by the candidates who appeared in the entrance examination will be displayed outside the Examination Section, AIIMS, New Delhi for information of all concerned. Telephonic queries regarding results of individual candidates will NOT be entertained.
3 It may be noted that the Institute does not issue or supply or intimate the marks/ranks to any candidate and no correspondence on this subject will be entertained.
4. Requests for re-evaluation of answer sheet will not be entertained under any circumstances.

MEDICAL EXAMINATION

The selected candidates shall have to undergo medical examination by a Medical Board set up by the Institute, consisting of Faculty members of the Institute. If, in the assessment of the Medical Board, a candidate is found medically unfit to be admitted to the course, then he/she will be rejected and not admitted and the decision of the Board shall be final. In that case, in his/her place next candidate in order of merit will be admitted.

GENERAL

If any candidate selected for admission, fails to join the course, his/her place will be filled by a candidate next on the merit list in his/her own category.

ADMISSION PROCEDURE AND DATE OF JOINING

Admitted candidates must join classes on 1st August, 2015. The admission of the candidates, who fail to join the classes by the date stipulated in the letter of intimation, shall automatically be cancelled and such seats shall then be offered to the candidates on the waiting list in order of merit.

Normally no candidate, Indian or foreign National, be admitted to the MBBS course beyond 30th September of the year of the admission. In exceptional circumstances and if so required in the National interest, foreign nationals will be admitted upto 30th November of the year, but with the specific approval of the President of the Institute. No candidate except foreign nationals be admitted under any circumstances beyond 30th of SEPTEMBER of the year of admission. The candidates who are admitted after 30th September will be eligible for appearing in the first professional examination only with the next batch of students.

Candidates who are selected for admission to the MBBS course at the AIIMS and offered the same should bring the following original certificates/testimonials/ documents at the time of admission :

1. Certificate of having passed the Pre-Medical/ 10+2 examination OR its equivalent examination, showing the subjects offered by him/her in the examination.

2. Certificate from the Board from which he/she passed the High School/Higher Secondary Examination, showing his/her date of birth.

3 Certificate/Mark sheet from the Board from which he/she passed the Pre-Medical/ 10+2 Examination or its equivalent examination showing that he/she has secured 60% or more marks in aggregate in the subjects of English, Physics,Chemistry (Organic & Inorganic) and Biology (Botany & Zoology). (In case of Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe candidates, he/she has secured 50% or more marks in the subject of English, Physics, Chemistry (Organic & Inorganic) and Biology (Botany & Zoology).

4. Migration Certificate from the University/Board last attended by him/her.

5. Certificate from the prescribed authority showing that he/she belongs to a Scheduled Caste/Tribe category (Applicable only if he/she has claimed in his/her application that he/she belongs to a Scheduled Caste/Tribe category).
6. Passport size Photograph (front pose) 3 copies to be pasted on Application Form, Attendance sheet and Admit Card.

DURATION OF COURSE

The course of studies leading to the award of degree of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.B.S.) of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences shall last for a minimum of 5 1/2 academic years including one year’s compulsory.

EXAMINATIONS

The schedule of semester examinations in the first professional of MBBS is as under :-

11nd Mid-Semester examination March (it is started by 10th of the month and it usually takes about 8-10 days time)
A total of four attempts shall be allowed to a student to pass the 1st professional MBBS examination held in July and no additional attempt shall be permitted thereafter to any candidate i.e. Indian or foreign national. (Academic Committee, dated 28th November, 1995 ratified by Governing Body on 28th Dec., 1995)

The candidate, who fails in four successive examinations in the 1st M.B.B.S examination shall not be permitted to continue further his/her studies at this Institute and his/her name will be struck off from the roll of the AIIMS.

After passing the Final MBBS examination, all the candidates will be required to do compulsory internship for a period of one calendar year in the hospital and rural health centers recognized by the AIIMS. During the internship period, the interns are allowed a total of 15 days leave in full term of one year. The degree of M.B.B.S. shall be awarded to them after satisfactory completion of one year’s internship.

All candidates admitted have to reside in the Institute’s hostels, if offered accommodation.

FEES AND EXPENSES

Each candidate selected for admission shall have to pay the following fees and dues immediately after the announcement of the list of selected candidates, and after they are declared medically fit by the Medical Board, failing which his/her admission shall be cancelled and the next candidate on the waiting list shall be admitted in his/her place.

2. Tuition Fee Rs. 150/- (Being half of Rs. 180/- per annum payable in two equal installments)
3. Hostel Rent Rs. 90/- ( Being half of Rs. 180/- per annum payable in two
equal installments)
4. Annual Gymkhana fee

Rs. 40/- ( Payable in one installment)
5. Laboratory fee Rs. 10/- (per term of six months)
6. Caution Money Rs. 100/- (Refundable)
7. Pot fund Rs. 30/- (Being half of Rs. 60/- per annum payable in two
equal installments)
8. Electricity Charges Rs. 18/- (Being half of Rs. 36/- per annum payable in two
equal installments)
9. Mess Security Rs. 500/- (Refundable)
10. Student Union fee Rs. 7/- (Being half of Rs. 14/- per annum payable in two
equal installments)

Total Fee

Rs. 970/- (for outstation candidates)
Rs. 332/- (for local candidates)

NOTE :
1. The fee and other charges including hostel rent once paid shall not be refunded even if a student leaves the Institute for any reason. No correspondence in this matter shall be entertained.

2. The caution money and mess security will, however, be refunded to those candidates who do not join the course. In case of a student, who leaves the course in the middle or after the completion of the course, the balance of caution money and mess security, if any, after deduction of the charges due, will be refunded.

3. The fees are payable in two equal installments by the 4th August and 4th February each year. The Dean/Director at his/her discretion may allow 15 days time after due dates aforesaid, to any student for making payment of fees etc. If the fees and other dues are not paid by the stipulated date, a fine of Re.1/- per day shall be charged. Besides, on default, the Dear/ Director may impose such penalty as he/she considers necessary on merits of each case.

SEMESTERS
First Semester 1st August to 13th December
Second Semester 1st January to 15th July

1. M.B.B.S. students in the pre-clinical course shall avail of full winter vacation from 14th December to 31st December and summer vacation from 16th July to 15th August. In para-clinical and clinical courses, students shall avail of only one half of the vacation i.e. halves of winter vacation from 14th December to 31st December and summer vacation from 16th May to 15th July.

KISHORE VAIGYANIK PROTSAHAN YOJANA (KVPY)

The Department of Science &Technology, Government of India, has Instituted the above programme to attract and motivate talented students to research careers in Science, Engineering and Medicine. Under this programme, which has been started in 1999, Fellowships are awarded in three streams- Science, Engineering and Medicine.

In the Medicine stream, the number of fellowships available per year is up to 25. The value of the Fellowship is Rs.3,000 per month with an annual contingency grant of Rs.6,000. The award includes a summer programme every year at national institutes involved in frontline research in medicine. The entry point for Medicine stream as of now is after 2 years of MBBS/BVSc/
BDS and the Fellowship will start from the beginning of the 3rd year of any these courses.

The Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, is the nodal institution for running this program, and selections in Medicine stream are carried out jointly by ICMR, AIIMS and PGIMER.

The full programme details will be announced through advertisements in national newspapers in the early part of 2015 A.D.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR PHOTOGRAPH

1. Three (3) recent passport size photographs are required.

2. 2.Photograph MUST be snapped on or after 10th January, 2015

3. Photograph must be taken with Name (as in application) and date of photograph, which should be readable.

4. Photograph must be attested by a Gazetted Officer/Principle of a recognised College/Institute /School with clear stamp.

5. Photograph should not have cap, goggle etc.

7. Applications not complying with these instructions will be rejected.

8. Applicant is required to keep a few identical photographs in reserve as they may be required at the of Entrance exams /Admission.
