Admission Procedure for Foreign National Candidates in BHU
Banaras Hindu University conducts Undergraduate (UG) and Postgraduate (PG) Entrance Examination usually during May to June for admission to various courses in BHU. Admissions are done according to merit in the Entrance Tests, subject to fulfilling of eligibility requirements.

Entrance Test Admission forms are issued by the office of the Controller of Examinations usually in February-March every year. The Entrance Tests are held at the following centres in India – Varanasi, Delhi, Kolkata (Calcutta) , Chennai (Madras), Jaipur, Hyderabad, Mumbai (Bombay). The University reserves the right to cancel any center except Varanasi without assigning any reason.
Admissions to B.Tech./B.Pharm., M.Tech./M.Pharm. are done through JEE and GATE respectively. Admission to MBA and MIBA are done through CAT.

Admission Procedure for India National Candidates in BHU
1. For General Courses
Applications of Foreign Nationals nominated by the Govt. of India under Scholarship scheme and Self-financing foreign nationals shall be entertained for the various non-professional as well as professional courses. They shall not be subject to the Entrance Test provided they have passed the equivalent qualifying examination from a University outside India.
Reservation to the extent of 5% of the prescribed seats on supernumerary basis for foreign nationals for admission to each course is available in the University provided they fulfill the minimum eligibility requirement and the following conditions –
(a) That the applications of scholarship holding Foreign Nationals (under various schemes) are routed through Indian Council for Cultural Relations / Ministry Of Human Resource Development (Department of Education), Government of India, New Delhi.
(b) That applications for Ph.D. Programme and Professional courses are routed through the Ministry of Human Resource Development (Department of Education), Government of India, New Delhi.
(c) That the application of self-financing candidates for non-professional courses, along with bio-data and academic qualifications should be submitted through concerned Indian diplomatic mission abroad or the diplomatic mission of the country of the applicant in India for admission in the desired course.
(d) That the candidates have valid Residential permit/Student Visa for the prescribed duration of the concerned courses, and their antecedents have been verified by the forwarding Agencies/Ministry and found in order.
(e) That the candidates submit certificate duly verified by the Ministry/Agencies to the effect of having been subjected to AIDS test and found negative.
(f) That they have adequate knowledge of English and/or Hindi as per requirements of the course.
2. Admission of Foreign Nationals to M.Tech./ M.Pharm. Course:
a) The application for admission by a foreign student should be submitted either through the Indian Mission in his/her country or by his/her country’s Mission in India.
b) Those foreign students who are selected under various Scholarship Schemes, either of the Minsitry of Human Resource Development or the Ministry of External Affairs, will be given admission on the recommendation/sponsorship of the respective ministry and confirmation of their admission will be sent directly to the concerned agency sponsoring their admission.
c) In the case of admission of self-financing foreign students, their applications have to be routed through the Ministry of External Affairs for clearance in the first instance and thereafter through the Ministry of Human Resource Development for a ‘No Objection’ Certificate (NOC).
d) The foreign students under both the categories mentioned under (b) and (c) above must fulfil the minimum eligibility criteria given as under :-
Candidates who have appeared and qualified in the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering [GATE] (conducted jointly by the IITs and IISc., Bangalore) and who, in addition, possess the requisite qualifications as indicated here under, are eligible for admission to Post-graduate course leading to M.Tech./M.Pharm. Degree.
Candidates who are due to appear in the qualifying examinations are also eligible to apply, but at the time of interview they will be required to produce a certificate from the Institution concerned to the effect that they have completed the qualifying examination by 15th July of the year of admission.
Candidates have to fulfill other conditions as defined in the respective prospectus of studies.
3. Admission of Foreign Nationals In the Institute of Medical Sciences:
a) For MBBS : 4 seats are available for admission to the 1st year MBBS course for students who are nominated by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. These students are not required to appear in the PMT/PAT Entrance Test. They are directly admitted, provided they fulfill the eligibility requirements for PMT/PAT Entrance Test
b) For MD/MS Course : 4 seats are available for this course and admissions are done through the nomination by Ministry of Health And Family Welfare. The student must have completed One Year Internship Training Programme after passing MBBS. Such students are eligible to be nominated for PG Admission.
c) For BAMS Course : 5 seats are available in BAMS Course (Faculty of Ayurveda) for Foreign Nationals/ Non-Resident Indian (NRI) / NRI sponsored candidates on payment of US $10,000 in two installments. For Foreign Nationals and Non-Resident Indian (NRI) Candidates, no Entrance Test is required. However, NRI sponsored candidates are required to appear in the Entrance Exams. NRI sponsored seats will be considered only after no foreign nationals/NRI candidates are available.
There are no paying seats for MBBS or MD/MS Courses.
